The Child Support Enforcement Unit is comprised of three units. They each perform separate and complementary functions: Establishment and Enforcement of financial support.

Prosecutors in the Juvenile Unit and Domestic Relations Unit:

• Establish paternity
• Establish support orders
• Enforce child and spousal support orders for the Cuyahoga County Child
• Support Enforcement Agency (CSEA)
• Register out-of-state orders for enforcement and modification of child/spousal support
• File petitions to establish paternity and child support for out-of-state custodial parents
• Refer cases to Ciminal non-Support Unit 

The Criminal Non-Support Unit was established in March of 1999 to aggressively prosecute "dead beat parents". Cases reffered to this Unit receive the most aggresive prosecution to deter further non-compliance with child support obligations.

We have collected over $5 million in outstanding child support arrear and  have a 100% conviction rate.

The Children Need Support (CNS) Task Force is a continuing effort by county agencies and community and media groups to increase collection of child support by locating and arresting non-compliant parents. This task force was initiated by the Cuyahoga County Sheriff.

The Statewide Roundup is a cooperative effort between the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS), the CSEA, the sheriff and the county prosecutor to “round up” parents who are delinquent in paying their court-ordered child support. 

Emphasis on Collection of Support Arrears is an ongoing effort by the office’s enforcement units to decrease the amount of arrears on the books of the CSEA.  This goal is achieved by aggressive collection of arrears.
