Community Based Prosecution (CBP) is a cutting edge program of long-term partnership between the County Prosecutor's Office and local communities to fight crime.  

We work directly with community officials, residents, police, schools, businesses, civic groups, and religious organizations  
 
We have become active participants in community programs and organizations, generating concepts and implementing programs to fight neighborhood crime.  
 
Community Based Prosecutors respond to safety concerns in your neighborhood. CBP gives you a voice in developing strategies to enhance the quality of life in your neighborhood. 
 
We have four major components: 

• A proactive approach to crime
• A defined target area
• An emphasis on problem solving, public safety, and quality of life issues
• A collaborative approach between community partners. 

Assistant prosecutors are assigned in the city of East Cleveland and all twenty-one wards in Cleveland, which includes the first, second, third, fifth, and sixth Cleveland police districts.  
 
This pro-active approach to fighting crime includes speaking in schools, nursing homes, safety block-watch groups.

We work with the community to target trouble spots within the neighborhoods through such efforts as drug vigils, curfew sweeps, and painting of bordered up houses.   
 
In addition, we also utilize a variety of enforcement methods to address neighborhood concerns:

• Drafting new legislation
• Targeted drug sweeps with other law enforcement agencies
